I Cried Over Our Table , Failed At A DIY Project & Found the CUTEST Vintage Look Glassware.

I’m just gonna be super transparent… this week did NOT go the way I wanted or expected it to. This week I was working on the final big project for our dining room makeover, and I could see the finish line… and then it all went sideways…

I Cried Over Our Table

I never thought I would cry over a dining table. I mean maybe I could see myself crying AT a dining table ( idk why but I am sure that’s a strong possibility 🤣) but never because of one. Well this week I cried over our table. Flipping our current dining table and refinishing it was the very last step in our big dining room makeover, and I was about 5 hours deep into it when I realized it looked TERRIBLE, and there was no fixing it.

I mean I’m actually embarrassed by it , that’s how terrible it looks. If you don’t believe me, go watch the video on YouTube or you can just take my word for it… but it’s bad. And being soooo close to finishing not just the table but then entire dining room project , and also being exhausted from working outside in the sun and humidity and fighting for my life against the mosquitos… well turns out that was enough to bring me to tears.

Obviously, in the scheme of life , it’s no biggie , and I definitely feel much better after getting some sleep. But I’m still really sad that the vision I’ve had for this table for months and months didn’t come to fruition. 😢

Failing A DIY Project

The dining table wasn’t the first time I’ve failed at a DIY project. And while it’s frustrating , that’s the name of the game, not every DIY is gonna work.

But what I think made this DIY fail more frustrating and upsetting than normal is that I didn’t have ANY backup plan. Most of the time whenever I go into a DIY that I’m unsure if it will work or how it will turn out , I usually have a plan B for it. But with this table I couldn’t use my usual plan B ( aka. paint it black 😅) , and so when my vision majorly failed, I was so so stuck. And THAT is what made failing at this DIY feel extra bad.

I know I will eventually find a solution , but for now, we are gonna cover up that bad boy with a table cloth and move on with life 🤣

I Found The CUTEST Vintage Look Glassware

On the plus side of this week… after failing my dining table , I went out looking for a tablecloth and added on a little retail therapy.😅

And you guys…. I found the CUTEST vintage look glassware at Hobby Lobby in the fall section! Right now they had fall 40% off so I got them for just around $5 dollars a glass! I love how they look just like the vintage glasses I drool over in antique malls. ( As much as I love antiques, glassware is something I haven’t gotten just because you never know what is in the glass when it’s that old😢 )

So I was thrilled to finally get a set I can actually use and love on!

Just in case Hobby Lobby sells out of these ( I feel like they might … they are THAT good) or in case they take the 40% off them, here is an almost identical set that is cheaper than the Hobby Lobby price tag!

We are literally putting the finishing touches on the dining room makeover as we speak, so I should be able to share the full makeover and reveal with you by NEXT WEEK! 🙌🏼

I hope you are still enjoying this makeover series, and I also hope you have a wonderful weekend friend. I love you and I’ll talk to you soon!
